  1. If your looking for a less expensive tire to replace your P-Zero's Try Kuhmo KU19 tires, they are Assimetrico, just like the p-zero, and just like our cars need. I was told that the tire last about 50% more than the p-zeros and becuase they are assimetrico the sidewalls are thcker than regular, but still not N rated. Also they seem to be wider than the p-zero's they fill out my rims about 1/2' more, also protects my rim more. I have stock turbo 18's but use my RH 3.6 turbo 3 piece wheels most of the time. These rims have a huge lip that the p-zeros just could protect and the kuhmo's fill them right up. I have had them for 3 months and they grip very very well, no real differnence than the p-zero and the are very good in the wet, I would say better than the p-zero's in the rain. I got them from tire rack for about $670 for the set of 18's AS far as the Shudder problem, read the above, I had that problem with my aftermarket 3 piece 3.6 turbo wheels and they turned out to be out of round and are out gettting fixed as I write this, or you need a good balance and/or new tires. Good luck! :drive:
  2. Wheels America- dont send rims there!! Hello forum members! If you need to have your bent or scraped up rims to be repaired/refinished. Dont send them to WheelsAmerica www.fixrim.com I just received my aftermarket 18" RH 3.6 turbo 3 pieces rims and while it is supposed to take 1 week turnaround, it has been almost 5 weeks. Fine I had to wait and summer has just arrived here in the Northeast. However, they called me to let me know one of my rear rims could not be reapired " too out of bend" they said, one of the frints were ok and the other front and rear, were straighted and refinished. Upon inspection of my newly refinished wheels, I noticed the the clear coat was already peeling off the refinished wheels. At a closer inpection, the wheels that were repaired had been taken apart and had been put back together backwards, so as the spoke stuck out more that suppoed to and the rims are no 1/4 inch thicker !!!!! Then on the last box, my supposedly unrepairable rear wheel, It was a totally differnt wheel, not mine. Looks like mine, but was 2 piece. a deeper lip and differet spokes and differnt offsets. This was supposedly a not repairable wheel, but at the same time NOT MINE!!!! This AM, first thing I called them and they said sorry about that, send them back and we will refinish and put them back together the right way. I asked about my rear missing wheel and 6 hours later no call so I called and they said, it is somewhere here, but we cant find it yet. Now What? I wnat my wheel, if they cant find my wheels then what will they get me a new one? Not only did I have to wait almost a month longer than anticipated, but then the lose one wheel, put them together backwards, and the finish is peeling. Now they want to have my wheels again, for what they said 1-2 days, yeah right. I hope they find my reaer or replace becuase then what? i will keep you posted as to what they said, but no I will probably get my wheels back my mid-summer. Obvioulsy not worth it, yes the prioces were cheaper than other, but I would expect more form a large chain like Wheels America Has anyone have any stories about them? Good or Bad?
  3. I change mine around 9500 miles. of course with a new filter. I dont take it to the dealer for that I take it to a place that specializes in Boxster they charged my $120 not bad at all, just got my second change last week. And I just hit 20K miles,.
  4. I am running an alpine cva-1004, 2 8" bazooka tubes in the rear trunk powered by an alpine amp I mounted in the front trunk. I installed BM quart 4X6 coax's in the rear storage and made self made speaker fabric grill, looks sounds like factory, wired them directly into the factor amp, that still powers all the door and dash factory speakers. I also took out the cd holder tray on the dash and mounted an in dash DVD player. All in all, I am impressed with the sound. The front speakers sound very well and with the addition of the better radio, they sound much better, the 4X6 in the rear fill out the rest of the car well, and the 2 Bazooka bass tubes sound pretty good even thought they are mounted in the rear trunks and have no ports to bring the sound up front. I am impressed. I have run the bass link on the radio up to max and adjust between 70mhz and 90 mhz. It;s funny when other boxster owners hear me coming and cant figure out how I have that sound coming from my car. BTW, hacking into the amp with the speakers from the rear and then hacking into the wiring for the amp with the aftermarket so that the door speakers work, was obtained witht he help of crutchfield tech's. Also, If you dont line the bottom of the radio, with electrical tape it will set your alarm of randomly, I was told by the dealer, that metal of the radio touching some sensor made it go off. So I was told to electrical tape the bottom and voila, no more annoying alarm going off randomly. Hope this helps.
  5. I just stopped by the dealer and it is my clutch it;s going. The mechanic says the clutches avg. life is about 30K miles, I only have 19k and the car is about a 1 1/2 years old!!!! I dont even abuse or burn out my tires, my Pzeros lasted about 16K miles in the rear!!!! They said it isnt under warranty and about $1500 to fix. OUCH!! Is this the norm or is there anything I could do? Any help is appreciated. BTW MY car is always at the shop under warraty, evap cannister, repeated air valve, and sensors, had a suspension component wear prematurely etc. I am starting to hate this car, nothing but trouble. If I do have to replace should I replace at an aftermarket porshce shop and install a performance clutch. What clutch should I go with, and what is the avg price for clutch labor or both. Can I call Porsch of N. America and complaint othem about my clutch , would they do something for me. Any stories, idea, thougths are reatly apprecaited.
  6. Hello all. I have an 02 boxster with 19k miles. My car started to "lose" power. In other words, when I start out in 1st gear it's fine, but then when I shift the engine "lags" a bit and the rpm's go from 2 to 3.5 with out much feel in power. Is this due to a dirty fuel filter. I did go almost to empty a couple of times right before that and noticed after I filled up. Also, when coming to a corner and pull out of the corner on 2nd I have to give it more gas than I did before or the car feels like it;s going to stall. Any input would be helpful. I dont know, I always use 93 octane. I was just on the highway and when in 5th gear I hit the gas, I notice the rpm's jump from 3 to 4.5 and hardly any acceleration then it kicks in , feels like turbo lag from cars i have had in the past. BTW, I dont drive the car hard, no wheel spin and dont ride the clutch.
  7. I meant can the boxster handle 295/30zr 18 tires in the rear. with 18x10 rims that already have 15mm spacers.
  8. Hi All, New here and I was wondering.....I have a 02 Boxster S with 3 piece RH wheels 18X10 in the rears, I am running factory P-zeros w/ 225/40zr 18 in front and 265 /35zr 18 in the rears. The rims are made for 996's so I have 15mm spacers in the rear so they fit. My question is what is the widest tire I can fit on the rear. I think a 285/30 zr 18 will fit, but can a 295/30 zr 18 fit? I can get a set of these for virtually free and wanted to know if they would fit....any help is greatly appreciated.
