Hey Tool pants, cheers for your reply.

The picture of the new ones I am looking at buying seem to have the same dials as mine, the only difference is they look like they have the newer style LCD (bigger) and also they have the battery and oil pressure dials as addition.

would the dials work (other than the battery and oil pressure dials which I would have to buy part for to send information)

Let me know

many thanks

Russ

That is an old style 996 RHD cluster for a tiptronic, if your Boxster has a tip. You can get it to work on your model year 2000 if the 996 cluster came from a C2. If you do not have a tip then the gear lights will not work.

I thought you wanted to replace just the faces, not put in a 996 cluster.

hey Tool Pants,

Yes mine is a manual, but im not to bothered about the gear light, I will replace the dial faces with my white ones anyway (although I dont havw the 2 outer ones!!)

So ignoring the gear light, this should work fine yes, the LCD and everything??

the part number of it is the one I gave above

many thanks

Russ

You do not have enough digits in your part number.

I see a 996 641 108 01 70C in the ROW parts list. It is for a 1998-1999 C2 GB car. If this is the one you are looking at then I think it will work in your Boxster. But I do not know any UK people who have done this conversion, just US people.

Verify the info with the seller as to what car the cluster came from. And watch out for used clusters on ebay as they may be defective.
