What to look out for?

All: Tom Coradeschi here, new subscriber. I am about to start looking for a "previously owned" Boxster, focusing on the 2001-2003 models, as they are about the newest which will fit my budget.

Aside the stuff which should be obvious (maintenance records, obviously worn tires, brakes, etc), are there any specific "gotchas" in cars from those years which I should be aware of? I've looked for a FAQ and can't find one anywhere.

Thanks...

I don't know about the gotchas as much as the wantas.

Ya wanta glass rear window go 03. The rest are personal prefs. I had to have heated seats, cruise control, and Carrera lites. If the right car is missing something easy to add, add it after you buy it. Electric adjustable seats are hard to add. A hardtop is easy.

The more cars you look at (on-line or in person) the better you'll know which options are critical.

Other than that the standard advice is to buy the best quality car you can afford. And enjoy the hunt!
