Silver trim for 2000 year 996

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am trying to buy an aftermarket "horseshoe" trim. I am told it is 3 parts and the 2 side pieces are no longer manufactured. The porsche specialist suggested the later 1 piece may fit but has never tried it. Does anyone kow the answer?

Thanks

Vron

Hello! Late Answer for this one,but I hope it is still interesting to You.The old "horseshoe" is in fact made of 3 pieces. The newer one is 1 single

piece. You can adapt the newer one, but you need the newer ventgrill, and if you dont want just to blank of the space under the new grill, you

also need the cupholders. You have to cut of the upper part of your old frame that the "horseshoe" sits on, but that is easy whith a dremel or

small saw. (Its only fastened by 4 screws)The tabs on the newer "horseshoe" then fits. You also have to adapt the length of the duct of the new ventgrill,to make it fit in the duct coming from the ventilation. I cut the new one, cut of the last piece of the old one, and "welded" them together with some silicone. It is much :renntech: easier than it sounds, and the whole work should take you less than an hour.Regards , Blondie
