Exhaust removal/replace

Recommended Posts

Replacing the exhaust is not very difficult. It should be a couple of hour job. The "U" pipes which connect the muffler to the cats can be difficult to remove. WD40 and a rubber mallet are a big help. The other challenging aspect is the nuts which secure the muffler to the transmission bracket. These must be installed by feel.

I picked up an 03S Muffler and want to put it on my 01S, how hard is it to swap the exhaust?

Can I do this myself? I am fairly competent! :)

Thanks,

Marc

Removal and installation is not hard, just time consuming because of limited space and access to bolts. (ihave done it twice once on my 2000 986s and 99 non s 986) just jack the car up. I'm more concern if the exhaust will fit. If I remember correctly the brackets are a little different on the 03 (not sure exactly what the difference is, becuase when I purchased my Dansk sport exhaust, the part numbers were different from an 03-05. I'm sure there is a way to make it work, but i dont think it is a direct bolt on. You may want to double check if fittent is compatible.
