thanks for ther reply. I i understand that the power kit was the pre-cursor to the turbo s. I was just wondering what else besides the brakes makes the difference. The power kit equipped turbo is rated at 500 hp as opposed tot he turbo s rating of 521 hp

I have a 2005 turbo with the e81 power turbo kit. I was wondering how the extra 21 hp was achieved? Is it just ecu programming? If so could i get the dealer to install that program??

If you search the various forums (check Rennteam, in particular) I think you'll find that 1) the parts lists (as far as engine, suspension, and brakes) are identical and 2) according to reliable sources, there isn't even any difference in the software. Thus, the 21 HP difference appears only to be on paper and likely related to marketing. IOW, Porsche gave their usual conservative estimates for the E81, and then upped the ante on paper, threw in some cosmetic changes, and dropped the price to try to sell the TurboS, since sales were flagging. I've driven a TurboS back-to-back with my E81 and neither I nor the other owner could tell a difference, but it might be hard to notice 21 ponies (real or fictional) in such a heavy truck. One thing is definite - the various versions of the stupid ECU and TCU software, and the even MORE stupid adaptation of the above, will make much more subjective difference than 21 hypothetical HP.
