Is it worth getting European Suspension?

Recommended Posts

I am still deciding on the best way of lowering the car. It looks like it's gonna cost me $1800 for the part and $1300 for the labor if I get the European OEM Suspension Kit, but only $900 if I go with H&R Spring.

My understanding is that they both just lower the car. What would recommend if I want to just lower the car? BTW, does anybody have the part # for European OEM Suspension Kit. My dealership gave following part # but not sure if they are correct.

Hi,

Just be careful because my friend blew out his shocks

by going with the H&R springs.

Paul

Paul: How many miles was it before the OEM shocks blew out after H&R installation? Did he have 18, 19, or 20 inch wheels?

Thanks.

Hi,

I would guess he had about 18,000 miles. I

would get bilstein PSS9 coil overs if

you want to lower your car. I think

the pasm system dampners need to be balanced

with the coils. Installing the european suspension

with out installing the european dampners would

be the same as just installing the H&R springs. This

is just my thoughts on this issue.

we are not talking about the just replacing the euro springs, its the whole euro 20 mm sport suspension , which included, new sway bars, new spring , struts, bushings.

Hi,

Sounds like you have it covered. Are the struts made for PASM or

will you have to abandon the computer strut stifness? I thought

that the european cars did not have PASM.

They do, and the car automatically is lowered an additional 10mm upon engagement of the "sport mode" for the PASM selection, US cars don't get the auto lowering.

Cheers,

so after about a year i have upgraded the euro suspension on my car in my garage. i assembled the whole unit instead of reusing some of the parts that are common between stick and 20 mm. it was a easier swap , and I have the stock suspension left over including the swaybars , bushings etc. so far its looking good, i have to get it aligned. it is understeering more then before, i am wondering if that is normal without alignment.
