NAV unit interchangability

Recommended Posts

Are the DVD Nav units interchangable between platforms and years? Could I take a 2005 or 2006 NAV unit and install it in a 2007? Or one from, say, a 2006 Cayenne?

Thanks,

Gene

I assume you're asking about just the NAV unit and not the PCM unit. My guess would be 'maybe' in terms of hardware but I suspect you might need a PCM software update and the appropriate NAV DVD. I think you need to be prudent regarding 'mixing & matching' PCM related items (ie. NAV).

That's my educated guess . . . . I could be wrong.

BTW: Why do you want to install an older unit in a newer car?

Reading the TSB's on the forum , the navigation module and the PCM must be matched as far as hardware revisions are concerned. Swapping the DVD unit from one car to another will therefore only be possible if the PCM's are in the same part number ranges. Its all explained in the TSB , along with the bose amplifier compatability.
