"EFB-RC" Sensor under dash?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just bought an extremely clean and well documented 1999 Carrera 4 and thus far am very happy with the car.

I've been through the car somewhat (only owned it three days at this point) and it appears to be very original and well loved by its prior owner.

However, there is a sensor that is hanging down from the drivers side under-dash that doesn't look factory to me. I am not sure if the detail people at the dealer dislodged it or what, but the electrical tape it's wrapped in is not done very well so I am thinking it's not factory.

It's marked "EFB-RC" and is about 3/4" in diameter.

I Googled the above code and got hits but nothing that will tell me what this sensor is/does.

I've taken a big detail pic to show the detail because it's so small. Does anybody have a clue what this might be? As far as I can tell the car has not been monkeyed with concerning aftermarket audio, etc...

If anybody knows what this is, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to not have to start digging in behind the dash to trace it.
