2nd gear difficulties

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I have noticed that when my car is cold that it is difficult to get 2nd gear, once it starts to warm up (coolant needle comes off the peg) it seems to want to shift just fine. When it is difficult to get 2nd, all other gears feel fine. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is this a shifter alignment issue or tranny fluid issue or just Porsche?

Stats on the car are 99 996 with 6spd manual, 30k miles on the clock.

Thanks.

I think it is normal, but I know some would disagree and blah blah blah about the transmission should work perfect always. The colder it gets, the more difficult 2nd gear will be until the powertrain wams up. But I have the same exact behavior on 3 diferent 996s.

Same exact thing on my 2000 Boxster S in Canada. Cold mornings remind me of a bad synchro mesh I had in my diesel Jetta going into second.

Thanks guys, makes me feel a little better. I have had other cars do the same, I guess it is just new car paranoia.

My '03 does the same thing and has not changed even after a tranny fluid change at 38k miles. It shifts great after warming up some.
