noise around the pillow vents - help

Recommended Posts

Cayenne S 04

My little girl noticed a gentle but annoying noise coming from around the passenger pillow vent - kids are good on picking these little details to drive us mad.

Here's the strange thing - the noise is not the vent, only hear it when all doors are closed - if any of the doors are open or the air fan is not on there's no noise.

Also, if the back passenger door is very slowly shut (push gently to close) - there's no noise. The sealing rubber looks fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

If the noise is a sort of a sqeak sqeak noise it can be the heater vent servo motors, they cant make their mind up which way they should be set so hunt back and forth.. They were a problem, although I have not heard of new cases for a while. My dealer ended up replacing about 3 of them, 2 of them twice.

If your under warranty get the dealer to fix, if not get some ear plugs as I hear that taking them out can be very costly in labor hours. Mine still does it periodically, I just turn the stereo up.

Hi

The problem is the pressure in the cabin, the air escapes along the side windows on top in the hooks. The window seals are not thick enough in the hooks. Tape the side windows with masking tape on the outside and do a test drive. Let us now the result.

Mike - it's definitely not a sqeak sqeak noise (thank god, these things could cost an arm and leg), it's more of a gentle air flow noise. But good thought.

RFM - cabin pressure sounds right. I'll take your suggestion of adding tape to give a better seal. If it works and the tape is not visible then that be ideal otherwise I need to replace the rubber.

Excellent online support.

thanks
