Sport Chrono, PASM

Recommended Posts

PASM isn't something that Porsche made easy for an after market install as while you can get the sensors and shocks there is a different wiring loom for the car. I have never known someone to try this. Sports Chrono minus the display on the dash has been added by a software upload to the DME, it would be a permanent version although there was talk of adding the button but Porsche in their wisdom made this harder when on a recent upgrade to the PIWIS removed the ability to change this on a car without the option. The DME upgrade can be found online check out the company softronic on the web. Not only does the upgrade add the Sports Chrono setting (on request) it also adds mapping for the higher octane fuels plus some extra hp don't ask me how much ask the company how much. I recall the cost was around $895.

When I was doing my custom build, the Sport Chrono option was the one option that caused me the most pause in deciding to "get it" or "not get it". I decided to get it because it was not that expensive. I just never felt or saw the benefit during a test drive. Having owned the car now for 2 driving seasons and 17,000 miles, I really like the option and see the enhancement it gives the car.

As for the bubble on the dash, that still sucks, IMHO.

I have an 07 Cayman S with PSM, PCM and NAV. Is it possible to add the sport chrono package and PASM to my car, and if so what might it cost?

The PASM is apparently the Porsche branded Bilstein shock system... You might contact someone at Bilstein.com in San Diego and see what they have to say... I've got the PASM and Sport Button--didn't think I'd ever use it--but when the wife is not in the car, I turn it on all the time.... If I ever get over my fear of wadding it up at the track, it will surely be of use there.

I would be curious to what they might say, so if you report back, the would be of interest....
