Has anyone installed a Backup Camera

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am in the process of installing a Pioneer Avic-Z1 in my 2004 C4s Cabriolet. I was thinking of installing a backup camera, but really can't find where to put the camera.

Any ideas anyone, or if you installed one, maybe a picture as to where you installed it. Thanks.

There are some cameras which are build into the frame for the license plate like this one:

Did you install a backup camera?

I'm installing one for my AVIC D3 (ND-BC2). I guess there are different ways, but I did as follows:

- drill a hole in the bumper cover above the license plate

- remove the air filter box

- pass the connector through the hole and lay the cable along the ride side. I guess you can go on the left as well, but the coolant tank would give you less clearance and may expose the cable to more heat

- remove the carpet on the rear shelf and the sound suppression foam on the left side. You can see that there is a round piece of black rubber on the rear end. Drill a hole in it. There's underneath some insulation foam stuck on the engine bay. Go through it to pass the cable inside.

I didn't go further so far. I didn't take any picture but will try to shoot a few next time I resume this.

HTH,

Laurent
