Hi all,

I havent used my car for a few weeks and it seems that on braking there is a slight pulsation on braking - I assume that this is due to some build up on the rotors when the car was stationary.

Is this permanent or will it slowly wear away any build up as I drive the car a few miles (done about 8 since I noticed it)

Thanks for the help!

Cheers

I get this with both my Audis when they sit (outside) for a while or inside after some rain. The rust builds up and it takes some time to wear it off. My oldest Audi 94 100 sat for 2 weeks outside while on holiday. Thumped for 3 weeks around 200 miles. Gradually had less thumping. The other car gets more use and it took about 50 miles once.

Hopefully this helps.

Tom

I've had this problem before and it seems to be caused by a bit of moisture between the pads and the rotor. If it happens to me I have resorted to getting some emery cloth taking off the wheel and cleaning the offending corrosion off the rotor. I find usually it's only one rotor that ends up corroded and you can visually check which one by looking through the wheel spokes.

If it is related to new rotors, I would consider the calipers might not have been re-centered after rotor replacement. if they are off a little bit, you will feel that sensation from uneven contact. You may want to go back to the dealer if they did it, and tell them about it so they can check them out.
