I use HAWK Dustless pads on the front and very soon the rear

NO dirt is wonderful.

My 04 Cayenne S is due for new brakes in the front. I'm wondering if anyone has tried something different other then OEM pads. The OEM ones are messy.

Thanks,

Scott

I put Akebono ProAct Ultra Premium Ceramic Pads on my wife's ML 320, although not the same vehicle as the Cayenne.

I find them to have the same European brake feel, definitely much less dust, no noise at all, and they are very rotor friendly and there is little pad wear.

Stopping distance is excellent.

They were around $100, and are American made. You may wish to consider these pads.

I also went with the Hawk Low Dust pads, under advice from Mr. Mud. I got 'em on eBay; roughly 100 bucks for each set. My rears weren't up for replacement yet but did them at the same time just 'cuz I didn't want the dust anymore. Replaced the rotors in the front; rears were fine so I left them. I went with TriNET drilled, slotted rotors. Painted the calipers when everything was apart. Everything's awesome.

I just ordered a set (front and rear) of Hawk HPS pads. I'm waiting for my rotors to show up, then I'll change the brakes. I'll report on the pads soon. I'm currently using OEM pads, hence, "dust generators".

For what it's worth, I purchased my rotors (StopTech SportStop) and pads (Hawk HPS) from Zeckhausen Racing.

When changing pads, Porsche recommends that new hardware is used: pad retaining bolt, pad sensors, and retaining clip.
