Rear Running Lights

Recommended Posts

I need help as to why my right rear tail lights running lights do not turn on at night when the headlights are on. I have replace all the bulbs with new ones and even replaced the bulb holder. All of the lights work except the two small running lights on the rear side. Any suggestions? thanks

Need to see a picture of the bulb holder. Like this.

Tool Pants , it looks just like your picture except it has tha amber bulb for the cleat turn signal lense. Are there different part numbers for the bulb holders for the clear tail light from the orginal amber tail lights? I checked all the fuses and they all seem to be fine.

When the 2003 clear tail lights came out everyone wanted them. Problem was there were very few of the USA versions available, so people bought the ROW version. You could buy it with just the tail light, or as an assembly with the tail light and bulb holder.

Problem was the ROW bulb holder did not have an extension piece attached to it for the running light bulb, as running lights are not required there. They are required in the US so we have the extension piece and the additional bulb.

This picture is the extension piece a ROW bulb holder does not have. The bulb for the running light is the type you can remove by pulling straight out. The bulb laying on the side in the picture is the running light bulb.

This is why I asked you about the bulb holder. To see if the prior owner bought the ROW version that came with the ROW bulb holder. You must have the US version because you said there is a little bulb at the end, but is it the little bulb laying down that you can remove by pulling it out?

Tool pants , thanks again!! the right rear bulb holder looks just like the one in your picture, it has the bulb at the end that you can pull out and the extensions you were talking about. I went and replaced both bulb holders for the left and right side, the left works perfectly all lights work, its just the right side that the running lights dont work. Any other suggestions.

Lay both bulb holders in the trunk and turn on the lights. Swap the running light bulbs to make sure you do not have a bad bulb.

Then get a volt meter and see if you have 12 volts to the 2 clips that hold the bulb in place.

Hello Tool Pants, swapped right side bulbs with left side, the right side ones worked fine when pluged to the left side bulb holder, but the bulbs from the left side that were swapped into the right bulb holder did not work. Again it was just the two running lights that did not work. Do you think there is a fuse that I need to check? I dont know what else to do, I do not have a volt meter. I think it must have something to do with the wiring harness which Porsche said there were none available in the usa for another month and that they want $1100 AT THE DEALER FOR IT. So im thinking i have to check the fuses! if you can break it down which fuse would be good to check first that would be great.
