General question to anyone that knows. I have a 2000 996 C2 and want to install an aftermarket amp in the front trunk along with crossovers for the front and rear speakers. I was going to mount them on a board in the trunk in front of the spare tire. Question is will I be clear of the gas tank? I assume the gas tank is behind the spare just below the battery area. Will I be clear of the gas tank up front? I know on the pre 996s the gas tank was right in the middle of the front trunk floor area.

Hey friend, i have a 99' c2, and i have 2 amps mounted on a board in front of the spare. i did not put them there but i am second owner and they were installed when the car was new. You shouldn't have a problem as long as they are secure, i never have anyway.

Is the board secured to the floor of the trunk?

no actually its a real snug fit to the carpet on the sides of the trunk. the amps are secured to the board. you cant move the board in any direction but up if you pull hard.
