Rear courtesy light problem

Just bought a 2nd hand my05 turbo and one of the rear courtesy lights doesn't come on when I open the door. It works when I toggle the switch to the side into the always on position, but in the middle position where it should come on as a courtesy light it doesn't.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

The light should come on when opening each door, check this first. If the light does not come on, check the light unit and the wiring.

Yeah it doesn't come on at all with any door unlike the other side. Dealer recommends just fitting a new unit...

I think there is a mirco switch located in the latch assembly to activate the light.

I don't think it is the latch as the other lights come on when I open that door.

Does anyone know how to remove the light without damaging anything? Might just be something loose...
