Fellow enthusiasts,

I've been a member of this site for some time, but am glad to finally give something back.

Topic: Mounting a 997 exhaust (cans only) to a 996

I'd like to thank member Juankimalo for giving me the hope that this mod was possible after he mounted a 997 PSE to his 996. After searching and searching the forums, and even calling the exhaust manufacturer - no one seems to be able to tell me the difference between a 997 and 996 exhaust. Well after getting my 997 Tubi to fit to my C4S... here is what I learned.

Mounting bracket: the same

Tube from cat to muffler: about 2.25 inches too long. (see pic). Also note that this tube is NOT flared or tapered. Meaning: you can just cut end and you're good to go.

Tube from muffler to tips: If you have a C4S, the 997 exhaust tubing will be perfect (no mod needed, see pic) - leaving you a 2-2.25 tube in the center of your exhaust cutout. If you have a 997 exhaust that looks like the picture I attached above, the tips will probably swap from a C2 996.

Well, I hope this helps anyone contemplating this mod... cheers. B)

I am contemplating exactly this mod as I want to do a "Gundo Hack" but don't want to modify the original parts. Having been lucky enough to pick up a pair of back boxes that the seller had badly described as from a Turbo, I found that they do indeed have part numbers on them:

997.111.311.04

997.111.312.04

I know that this is an old post but hopefully, you or someone will be able to confirm whether or not the C4S tips went straight on? I have a C4S (2003) so if I understand this correctly..... I need to cut about 2 1/4" off of the inlet pipe from my 997 silencers and then just sort out the tips? I appreciate that this should be easy enough to check myself but it just won't stop raining!!!

Cheers
