DSP Installation in '99 996

Hi - have a 99 C4, with the 490 Hi Fi Sound package. I was thinking about buying a (used) DSP system (option P49). A few questions:

1) is the in console DSP module the only part that this different or is there a seperate amp for the DSP?

2) Will this plug directly into my existing sound wiring?

3) If not, what is required?

3) Any other considerations?

Hi Marc,

some time ago I have the same idea and posted this question directly to Porsche company - but I found no cheap DSP unit last month.

So my information is, that DSP amplifier ist plug and play ready if you have PCM and additional sound-system with external amplifier in front. After plug in the pcm will show you additional menues like eaqualizer...

But it seems that you have to modify the connector, because the normal amplifier uses another one.

Hi !

I have got a Mod. 02 996 Cabrio with Soundsystem ans PCM 1 installed.

I got a used DSP amplifier from ebay which I would like to change against the 6x40W standard amplifier.

The power connector fits perfect but the other connector does not fit.

The current connector of the normal amplifier is blue and slightly bigger then the white connector of the DSP to be installed.

Has anybody done this installation before?
