Door Mirrors Stolen

Recommended Posts

Am I supposed to be eternally grateful that 'he' 'she' 'it' or 'they' did not decide to take the headlights etc.,etc., ? I just can't feel that way yet.

.......as to the question you put as to why they were stolen, vandalism or ????

I'd probably prefer to think that it was simply vandalism rather than entertain the thought that it might have been some Porsche owner who wouldn't spend the money on replacing his mirrors, but preferring instead to steal them from a fellow owner.

I'd like to think Porsche owners have a bit more integrity.

I had a skateboarder hit my car in a driveway once and the mirror galss popped out. I popped it back in and there has been no trouble for over a year.

So the guy in the car behind yelled at me for hitting a skateboarder. The skateboarder also yelled at me. If it had been a bicycle or a motorcycle #1) it would have been obvious to everyone that crossing a mall driveway diagonally across traffic and hitting a car is bad. #2) with brakes they wouldn't have hit me. #3) They hit me, not vice versa.

This is now in the past and is not a painful experience.

My wife's car had her BMW valve caps stolen recently. (nice, deep-thread metal caps with rubber gaskets and the BMW roundel) I seem to replace valve caps every year. I've given up on being angry about it.

Once the situation is over, it is in the past, anger is a waste- the irritation of anger hurts mostly you . But if the hurt is ongoing, (imagine you are among the majority of americans hurt by George W Bush), then anger is useful and can be channelled for good.

Sorry you got vandalized. The Aspheric mirrors sell at Suncoast for $140 - So I image the regular mirrors are a little less.

Ad, what's with the political slander? Thought this was a tech board? FYI, not a Bush supporter here (nor Kerry), just can't stand to see stupid political comments in places other than the OT forum.

By the way, you are absolutely correct with not being angry about minor vandalism. It's just not worth it. It's comes with owning a P-Car more than some other marks.

You can pull them out with your fingers. Only held in place with plastic clips. They snap in and snap out. This is the back of an aspheric mirror but the standard mirror mounts the same. The standard mirrors do not cost much but in the UK prices are much higher. The aspheric is about twice the cost. And a self dimming is about four times.

Now for those BMW valve caps. http://members.roadfly.com/brown1706/ValveCaps.htm
