Windows go up with top closed?

I believe on my 986 the windows closed automatically when I closed and latched the top. Is this supposed to also happen on the 987?

THanks,

Yes, with at least the doors closed, with the doors open the windows will stop at the usual, approx. 5 mm. from the upper stop possition.

Hmnn..very strange..mine don't close with the top up but surprisingly they close with the top DOWN....

to be more precise..i undo the latch..windows drop a couple inches as they should..then i put the top fully down and windows close back to originally instead of opening....

.just the opposite...anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

I think what you are describing is normal 987 behaviour. Here's what is supposed to happen:

1) If the top is up and the windows are closed - when you open the latch for the top the windows drop about 1/2". When the top is fully lowered the windows go back all the way up.

2) If the top is up and the windows are open - when you open the latch for the top the windows rise about 1/2". When the top is fully lowered the windows go back all the way down. (I don't know why this happens but it does on my 987)

3) If the top is down and the windows are up - when you start to raise the top the windows drop about 1/2". When the top is all the way up and you latch it the windows go back to all the way up

Thanks for the input:

Spoke with my dealer. When the top is raised and latched with the windows in the down position, the windows should raise and close automatically. Mine does not do this. I have a service appt scheduled.

Thanks,

Are you holding switch down until a click is heard when top closes? If you only hold it until the top is up the windows won't close, but you can still latch the top. Hold an extra few seconds, an audible click is heard, and then windows will close. THis happened to me when I first got the 987. If you are holding long enough and windows still won't close then service is the only option.

If your windows are up when you open the top they will drop down a few centimeters and then go back up once the top is stored away. If your windows are up when you close the top, they will also drop down just a bit and then go back up once the top is latched. Also, when you open the doors the windows will drop the same amount if they are all the way up then go back up once the doors are closed. (owners manual p154).
