Car stopped and techs can't understand codes

My 05 base carrera suddenly stopped running. The techs at the dealer tell me they can't make sense of the codes they are getting from the computer.

They are sending the info to the corporate office.

If this was an IMS failure would they be able to read this off the codes?

Any other possibilites?

Maybe it would be interesting, if you post the relevant codes. It remains a mystery without the codes.

I emailed dealer asking for codes...I will post when I get them.

no codes yet...but atlanta got back to them and said look into a bad "cam sensor"

How many miles on your '05 C2?

36K when I bought it...drove it a grand total of 320 miles before it stopped

In shop nearly three weeks. Will take at least 10-14 days I think before I see it again.

Another 05 3.6 dies.. Porsche should be ashamed. Glad you got a new engine! (with all the fixes that should have been there in the first place.) This should actually make your re sale value increase.

I agree with you. The engine stopping so abruptly oin the highway was scary at best. Luckily it was the right lane and 5:30 AM.

Not sure about resale value but it can't hurt.

An educated Porsche buyer knows that the 05's are problematic. If I were interested in your car I would buy it at a premium over another 05 with the original engine. Let us know when you get it back. You shouldn't have any more problems.

>Gulp!< That's just what my 3.8's got on it right now! Been driving it "like my hair was on fire" (to quote one member's post) and changing oil at 5K mile intervals. Watch this space!

Do you still have a warranty? You can probably get one (if you don't) for the piece of mind.

Having lost my engine last year :angry: I will never buy another Porsche without a warranty.

I can thank this Forum for my current driving habits!

Got a 3-year extended warranty (for which I believe I grossly overpaid!) when I bought the car last year.

Well...nearly five weeks to the day it died I got my car back. New engine isntalled. Drove it once over two days and battery died. I guess sitting around 5 weeks on the dealer lot was not such a great thing.

Dealer has replaced battery for free.

Should be good to go now. Fingers crossed.
