Brake Pedal Travel Feels Weird

Normally when i pressed on the brake pedal hard, I get a hard pressure on the pedal and the car brakes works like a charm, even during times when i needed to get the car to a halt fast.

However, out of curiosity, I stepped on the pedal beyond the resistance that I normally get when stationary, I realised that the pedal could actually travel further down beyond that, with a spongy and a faint weird squeal (like the sound of compressed air) coming from the brake pump in front.

Is this normal for other cars in this forum? Or could it be that the pump is not working well or even air in the system? I have just bled the system, and i seriously doubt it's the air in the system.
