Changing Rear Brake Pads

Hey guys, I used the DIY Changing Brake Pads section on here to change my front pads on my 06 Cayenne S and it went beautifully! Thanks to Loren and Mudman for their input and all others...saved myself some cash! Now I am trying to do the back set of pads but the caliper pins on the back are different than the front and there is no way to grip them. I tried using a hammer and center punch/screw driver but couldnt get it to budge. It appears it may be rusted or so much brake dust has accumulated that its stuck.

Anybody with ideas on how to loosen the back pins?? I am at a loss. Thanks!

I've never had one seize before. Be sure to use a proper steel punch and heavy hammer to transmit the force directly to the pin. You could try and use some brake clean to release the build up of brake dust.

Definitely make sure you're using a set punch and not a center punch. A center punch can mushroom the end of the pin and will not deliver the force necessary due to the tip. A screwdriver won't transmit the force necessary. If you have a dead blow hammer and the proper punch, you should knock it right out.
