A/c Control Face Plate

Recommended Posts

Loren/Tool Pants: Is there a way to snap off the black plastic surround on the A/C climate control face? I don't mean the rectangle around the outside bordering the center console horse shoe. The large aluminum package makes an all silver faceplate, and I wondered if it is possible to re-create that look by painting the surround facia (assuming it is removable). (I have an '04 C4S cab).

On another note, following another member's post, I ordered a terrific (loud!) horn from Griot's and installed it last weekend. What a difference! I highly recommend this to anyone who has had problems with other drivers-especially trucks-ignoring the feeble Porsche horn. I did have to remove the front wheels and bumper, but the rest was easy.

Yes--the unit on the left; I don't suppose it is possible to order just the faceplate in silver (even if you don't mind the high price, you probably need a VIN number for the car, and have to wait a long time).

I found those pictures a long time ago on a Japanese Boxster owner's site. He painted all the black plastic in the car silver. He either masked or pulled the buttons off to paint.

Porsche does not sell just the faceplate, and the entire unit is very expensive even if you could find it in silver.
