Winter Vehicle Storage

Winter is almost here and the sad part is that the Porsche will have to enter hibernation mode for the next few months. :(

I've been storing my muscle car, so I know the basic drill, however, this will be the first year that I'll be storing my 997 C2. The vehicle will be stored in my unheated, but insulated garage. This is what I plan to do:

- Hook-up an electronic battery trickle charger (CTek);

- Fill up the gas tank to the max and add Stabil fuel stabalizer;

- Inflate the 19" tires to 50psi.

I was not planning on removing spark plugs, nor changing the oil. I will do that in the spring.

Any recommendations or suggestions? All comments are welcome.

I'd change the oil. Why not? It's a Porsche! E

Hi,if you plan to wash the car before storage,after you wash it, do a few miles with normal braking to clean the rotors.No need to rust.If you have normal brakes. :)

Recommended to change engine oil before storage to remove contaminates and acids that form as a by product of combustion. Also run the engine to circulate the fuel stabilizer through the system.

In addition to things already mentioned:

1. Over inflate your tires a few pounds and park on plywood. Move car a foot or so every 2 to 3 weeks.

2. Check and prevent investation of rodents by plugging exhaust and then place a note on your key chain to remove plug.

3. Get battery maintainer to keep battery charged.

4. When bringing out of hibernation, push car in reverse to get some oil circulation started prior to starting.
