PSE Once Again ... ...

Recommended Posts

Picked up my carrera s just yesterday. I've read the whole forum about turning the PSE 'on' all the time.

But i don't really get it. Do i have to disconnect the brown connecter or one (of the two) black ones wich alse lead to the grey box?

I also tried to disconnect eithet one or them but this also is working for me.

Can anyone please discribe to me step-by-step about what to Do? I really want the noise all the time quick !!

Thanxs !!

I made up a kit to allow you to turn on and off the PSE at will and prevent the 20 -40 mph cut out. Personally I think its a more elegant solution to unplugging the unit and allows the control to be returned to normal come service or when you feel the 70 mph drone is becoming too much. The pug has a metal wire clip that needs to be squeezed to allow it to release from the grey solenoid.

I turned mine on all the time.. Here is the way I did it. Just unplug the brownish/orange connector in the picture. Or you can take off the hose with the red pointer. It's easier to just disconect the plug. I tie wrapped it to an AC hose so it would be secured and made little "condoms" out of the fingers of latex gloves so debris wont get into the connectors.

You can try it this way and if you don't like it on all the time you can always plug it back in.

I like mine on alll the time. It sounds sooo sweet ;)

Take a look at this neat mod for the turning on/off the PSE. 150 Euros is close to $225USD.

I wish they had this item a few years back when I did the external switch wiring on my PSE.

http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p97084.htm :

P97 PSE Manual Control

The PSE on the P97-1 and P97-2 needs to be activated every time you start the car by pushing the "Sport" and/or "PSE" button.

And even if you have decided to set the PSE in the loud setting, the DME will always switch the PSE to silent between 45 and 75km/h.

On most cars, it's also not possible to have the PSE on when the Sport setting is switched off.

We now offer a plug and play solution that allows you to control the PSE manually, with memory function and all this via remote control.

The 2 channel remote has a "loud" and "silent" button so you can be 100% sure of the setting, even before you start the engine.

If you switch off the ignition, the last setting will be stored so next time you start the car, the PSE will still be in the same position so it's not necessary to push any of the buttons first, in order to get the PSE in the setting that you prefer.

Price : 150 Euro. Dollar Conversion

For every P97-1 or P97-2 with factory equipped or dealer retrofitted PSE sport exhaust.

Easy to connect and 100% reversible.

That looks a tidy install , but a bit pricey. Rather than run the risk of losing a key fob , the other option is to simply fit a switch as myself and others have done. I made up a simple loom and plugged into the existing plugs so there was no cutting of wires.
