Battery change - PLEASE ADVISE !

Please advise, what type of battery do I need for a Cayenne Turbo 2004 - the one under the seat... :huh: i can't find this in the manual, and dealers are closed for holidays :(

Bosh/varta would be fine ? but what amps etc etc...

Can I do this myself, or should I find some opened garage ? I've looked at the instructions, but, after the swap, do I lose some settings... etc ?

**** car, it died on me this morning, no signs before today, and I must travel to Austria tomorrow :help: Other car is stuck at dealer untill 4th of Jan

PS: can it be recharged ? at least to hold untill spring or something ???

Mine was recently replaced. The receipt says it's a dry battery rated at 110A - part # 955-611-110-20 and price was $247 USD. The battery looks to be twice the width as a normal battery, but the same height and depth. Maybe a yellow-top Optima battery will suffice? Should be able to do something like this yourself.

A CTEK charger is a good purchase -- use it now and see if it will bring life to your battery, but odds are you need a new battery. And when you install the new battery leave the CTEK in/charging and your settings will be saved. For battery specifics you can search the forums here and a lot of info is available but I have not seen a specific product list -- just dimensions, etc.

As to the install -- you can do yourself. The vehicle manual actually has good instructions -- again, search these forums and the tools you need will be listed, etc. If you do not have your manual become a contributing member on Renntech.org (here) and you can download manuals, etc.

Well, I've jumpstarted the car and took it for one hour drive, now it seems to be ok... I will have the battery replaced at the dealer, problem is they will open on the 4th of january.

I've read the manual, if the case I could give it a try and change it myself.

Of interest is the fact that the 2008 Cayenne Owner's Manual, posted here, gives detailed specifics on how to access and replace the battery.

My 2010 Cayenne Owner's Manual does not provide any of that information; and tells you to take it to the dealer for replacement.

Hi.

I have just replaced mine with a Varta Silver 110A battery. That is the battery the Porsche dealer recommended here i Norway. The original one was also a Varta battery. Buy it from a sertified Varta battery dealer instead of Porsche and you might save 30%.

The size is ca 390x170x190mm. Unscrew the two bolts holding the driverseat (located under a plastic cover in front of the seat on each side) tilt the seat in a backward position, you may have to adjust the seat to be able to get it all the way back. Unscrew the fastening part for the battery and disconnect both pole cables and ventilastion hose. Lift out the battery and replase in opposite order.

It might also fix some other weird problems with your car as well..... Remember to clear all fault codes when you are finnished.
