Is the battery under warranty?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My Porsche Cayenne battery died twice, each time I have to recharge it and everything is ok but how do you know that it's time to change the battery?

My local Porsche dealer in Montreal charge 470$ (part and labor + taxes) for changing the battery but is it not under the Porsche warranty? is there any better alternative like another battery similar or better than the OEM?

Thanks

Ian

1 - sounds like you have a problem other than your battery

It's an Cayenne S Titanium edition 2006. The problem starts when I left the car without driving for 5 months. I had to charge the battery for 36 hours and everything is ok. The car has a Boomerang (tracking device) and itronics (mobridge) BT/Ipod that draw constantly on the battery. Is the battery under warranty? if not, what is the best battery for the cayenne?

Thanks

No Cayenne can remain parked five months without the help of a battery retainer or trickle charger, disconnecting the battery is another option but less interesting.

+1 on battery maintainer. Some people call maintainers trickle chargers, maybe even Porsche. Just make sure it is a chipped maintainer that "knows" the correct charge level.

There are CTEK and one of the Porsche maintainers that also prevent sulfation.
