SIM cards for integrated phone system in PCM

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, this is my first visit on this site. I have a Boxster S 2005 with a PCM 2.1. I want to use the integrated phone system which required a SIM card. In order to activate the card the service provider requires the phone system serial number or IMEI. I obtained several number from the PCM by pressing "MAIN" and "TRIP" simultaneously in `SWversions`. According to the service provider he could not find any of the numbers, I gave him, in his system that would confirm that my PCM system would accept the HSPA SIM card. I am not sure but I believe from the info in my PCM could be a type "A" software. Could anyone tell me if the PCM software has to be upgraded to a "B" software for the system to accept the HSPA SIM card? Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't know what HSPA is but to use my sim card I just take it out of my phone and put it in the tray.

This being the case why not give the IMEI of your phone then use the sim in the car, should work ok. You can test this by taking the sim out of your phone ( I guess you have one) and putting it in the car.

exactly what I was going to say, sim card are supposed to be portable (as long as the phone is not company specific lock), so just give whatever else cellphone s/n you have and try the sim card in your car :) I'm sure they don't need that anyway and they just ask that to fill up their computer :P

good luck ! :)
