How do you remove the wiring harness for the headlights?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. I get the dreaded "check left cornering light" over and over again. Sometimes simply pulling the headlight out and reseating it does the trick, but almost always after a couple of trips I get the warning again and the cornering lights won't work.

Both wiring harnesses (right and left) have a broken clip, so they are not properly secured for the headlight to slide in to. I would like to go ahead and replace both harnesses in case that would resolve the cornering light issue, but I can't see the back part of the harness well enough (the black part where it's connected to the car) to figure out how to remove it.

Anyone have any idea?

The big black plug clip should slide to one side allowing you to then wiggle the cable out and around so that you will now have enough clearance to see how to disconnect the cable.

Well, I replaced the wiring harness successfully (thanks for the tip!) but I still get the "Check Left Cornering Light" warning. I did a continuity test on all of the wiring involved with that bulb, and that all came back clean. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Remove the orange coloured weather seal on the headlight connector wiring harness in the fender. Install your headlight and see if that clears up the faults. I've had it cause alignment problems resulting in intermittent connections.
