remote disabled when not used in 7 days-why?

Hello,

I know that the remote purposely disables after non-use of about a week? Why is this programmed to do so? Does the electrical system go into a sleep mode to preserve battery power?

I don't drive my car much in winter and have to open with the key.

Thanks,

That's exactly right. It goes to sleep after 7 days to conserve the battery. And if it's the same as the 986, you have to put the key in the ignition in fairly quickly after opening it with the lock, else the alarm goes off.

From the owner's manual:

"If the vehicle is not started or unlocked with the remote control within five days, the control standby function is switched off (to prevent discharging of the car battery).

1. In this case, unlock the driver's door with the key at the door lock.

Lever the door lock closed in order to prevent the alarm system from being triggered.

2. Press button 1 on the remote control ("key icon" button).

The remote control is now activated again."

Regards, Maurice.
