How Tuneable Are The Non Turbo Engines

Hi All

How tuneable is the 3.6 or the 3.8 non turbo engine. I have a C2s with the Crono package but would like to get the BHP into the 400 mark. Is this possible by adding a larger thottle body, exhaust manifolds, cat replacement pipes, induction kits etc???.

I keep looking at buying the single mass flywheel and thottle pipe off Sharkwerks website as they claim good results for adding these two items but the cost is quite high and i dont really know if i'd be getting good bhp for £ or $.

What do other people think please??

If you want 400 HP (or more) out of a normally aspirated late model Porsche my advice is to buy a GT3.

You will need to spend a lot of money to come close to that number on a 997-1. Don't believe all the 3rd party hype - those HP gains are not what they say they are.

Had the same idea to give my 997S-1 extra power - but realistically all results are close to the X51 option (380bhp). For instance cargraphic offers the 25 extra bhp at around 5k EUR (http://www.cargraphic.de/index.php?/s,6,7,18,1771,1773,2520/&start=3), including 200 cell cat., sport exhaust, etc. The GT3 option is interesting, but not for me as there are no seats for kids ... and this is required to give the device the required women acceptance factor.

My option is to wait for prices coming down on the used Turbo S (530bhp) - maybe with the next economic crisis wacko.gif. One can then take advantage of an original build car - it can be put under the Porsche approved warranty for up to 10 years and does have better resell value.

Here is another tuner that is close by the research facility: speedArt. They offer a three stage tuning option and the final level has 405bhp, for the facelift S tuning even 420bhp. :clapping:

Glad to see someone else has to keep the little lady happy. I had to choose between a 997 Cab or a Cayman... guess what direction I was pushed into. :)
