Kumho MX 18" vs. Mich Pilot Sports

Ok I went to a local Auto X and was searching for opinions on tires... First off I live in Sunny San Diego where it is never less than 72 degrees and rains about 1" a year... B)

Knowing this, multiple reputable 996drivers and three open wheel cart professionals recommend for my car the Kumho MX.

Ok so now you need to know: I have 18" factory chrome rims on a C2 with stock suspension (USA)... My car is for the most part a daily driver, but on the weekends I love to participate in local PCA club rides and few of us let loose so to speak.

So my question to you is:

For almost double the price and the Porsche "N" rating should I still go with the Pilot Sports or am I wasting my money...? :huh:

Mine is 17" and I don't do AutoX... so I'm not that qualified to reply, but here's my 2c anyway as an aggressive daily driver.

Yes, Pilot Sports(my previous) is worth the money and is the best in the market IMHO. Not to mention the hard cornering, the road noise and durability is excellent.

But, at the same time, Kumho(my current) is the best value. Some people make harsh comments on them just because they are cheap, but I don't think most of them ever owned them. They are little more sensitive to cold wheather & tire pressure, but you don't really care in SD. I'd stick with Kumho. If you haven't yet, try them!

My Kumho, little less than 10k, has plenty of thread remaining, very quiet.

In contrast, P-Zero completely gone after 15k, with crazy noise.

I heard totally different experience on same tire from different people.

But still i was suprised to hear you got less than 10K on Kumho.

So Porsche spend hours and hours testing tyres to ensure maximum performance/safety and you want to compromise that with cheap tyres!! Stick to N ratings, there are plenty of options in the UK at least (Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental, Toyo, & Michelin)
