Has anyone here programmed a new key remote?  The car is my nephew's 2005 997.1 C2S (UK Model).

We have the IPAS codes for the car, and a PIWIS tester.  We have one fully working key, and another with a dead radio transmitter.  We also have a new radio transmitter, but it does not appear to have the bar code tag like the one you get with a 986/996 remote.

The workshop manual describes coding the PAS control module, but doesn't mention the radio remote.  As I understand it, programming is done by inserting each key in turn.  I know from experience of programming my 996 that it will read the immobiliser transponder directly from the pill, but there is no mention of the radio transmitter.  My hunch is that it will ask me to press the remote button during the programming procedure, but I would like to know before I start, so I don't mess it up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

From the key handover procedure:

"Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn the ignition on. Then press the remote button until the blinking frequency rate of the central locking switch in the dashboard changes. Remove the key from the ignition lock and test function."
