RMS replacement - what else at same time

So i bought a 2002 C4S, 29,000 miles. The PPI stated there was some RMS seepage. So negotiated that in the price, prepared to do it.

Question 1: Do I/Should I do it immediately, or clean it and keep an eye on it and do it in a few months?

Question 2: What else should i do, since the labor is in removing transmission etc as i can see.

a. IMS seal replacement

b. New clutch

c. anything else?

I'm torn on the LNE IMS replacement. that being said, there is an IMS seal that could just be replaced, right?

Clutch may be early, but while it's out, i could be ensured that it's new and will last. What all should i replace with the clutch, throw out bearing and all?

I got a price on the RMS replacement, any thoughts on what each one of the additional items should add to that job would be appreciated.

Thanks, i've tried to search and research, but couldn't come up with a good conclusive answer.

Do the bearing, not just the OEM flange/seal update. I little seepage, whether at the RMS or IMS won't kill the engine (although at the IMS it can be indicative of a failing bearing. But a bearing failure usually means a total teardown/rebuild. It is not that expensive to do if you have the engine/trans out of the car.

I did the OEM flange/seal update before LNE had perfected the removal tool for the dual row bearing, will be going in to do the bearing update one of these days. For the later engines the single row bearing with the exposed clip makes the removal much easier.

I am only learning about these engines/ vehicles so happy to be corrected.

The IMS bearing is replaceable with either the LN Engineering version or the Pelican Parts version. Both of these do nor require engine disassembly if the right pullers etc are used.

With regard to the RMS, the only bearings attached to that are housed within the crankcase halves and require major engine disassembly. The seal for the RMS is worth doing when the clutch assembly is replaced.

While in there, I would personally do the IMS bearing replacement as this is a known weak point for these engines.

I have a Boxster & when it is clutch time I will replace the RMS with the updated version & also do the IMS bearing upgrade to the LN engineering unit..

Is there a bearing for both the RMS and the IMS or just the IMS? And the thought for the IMS is if i decide not to do the LNE version, still do an OEM IMS bearing?
