Clutch Disc

Hi back again on the scrounge of knowledge.

After changing the tires to pzero's i have now a slipping clutch its just starting to go, so needs changing, will i only need to change the clutch disc or will more be needed and is this something i can do myself? is it straight forward as in remove gear linkage drop transmission, change disc and replace items? Don't laugh just where I am have no faith in local dealer, they are slow and really don't think they will do it with the same affection as me.

To do the clutch you drop the motor with the transmission. It

is impossible to reach the high nuts. There is just no

space for a hand. Make sure and get a new throw out bearing.

Not much money for the protection.

Personnally I would never even think of doing this on my own:eek: .

On something else you could take opportunity of to replace or modify, I heard the flywheel is interesting to mod on the GT3 up to RS standard (single-mass). But this depends if you're a track freak or not.

got info from wiki throw out bearing is also release bearing, please confirm this guys.

Removing the motor will take an experience mechanic over one hour. There

are alot of steps.

I am sure the release bering or the throw out bearing are the same. It

is a term I used when working on the old VW car. The times

have changed.

Call Jeff the parts guy at Sunset. He knows his parts.

Latest is, that the Porsche Dealer in the next country has never done this before and have concerns, they have asked me to get information of the procedure and supervise. anyone can help, If need would pay for the info as would expect it would take some time to put together. would ant it specific to the 2007 RS. step by step procedure.

be a few experienced shops around there that

can work on your car. Dropping the motor is not that hard

if you have the right lifts.

All Porsche dealers have access to the computer instructions.

It is better to take it to someone who has done this. Even a Volkswagon

dealer might work.

That track is in West Malaysia, and i am in East malaysia, in Borneo. so not possible to get there. have looked at shipping the car there for the works but shipping alone is about USD 10k. not in the budget.

I looked an looked mixing words in the search. All

I could find that look good was this guy from

main Malaysia that is selling a racing clutch.

Maybe he has a lead on someone in your neck of the woods who

installs clutches. You look like you live where there is nothing

but Japanese cars all over.

Try looking at a BMW shop if you can find one. That is my best guess.

Consider maybe having an experienced technician travel to do the work from the nearest country. He can probably do the work at a local shop. Pay for the work, travel, parts and use of the local shop.
