99 996 Headlights and 986 Headlights. Same?

Are 1999 996 C2 headlights interchangeable with 986 headlights of the same year? I want to find a clear headlight and get rid of the amber. I wanted to expand my search for used ones and I thought if they were the same I could look for those. What year did the 996 go to all clear headlight or was that an option?

996 went all clear in mid MY1999. My June 99 build 996 had clear headlights.

986 and 996 headlight assemblies are the same fit and form - much easier to find clear 996 though. They are in high demand by older Boxster owners.

I have a 98 Boxster and I added clear front lights. I also de-abmered the tail and side markers. The look is an improvement.

I later added the center radiator, a 996 front bumper and litronic front headlights!
