The invoice reads:

Found broken ramp for tensioner and valves bent. Intermediate shaft failed and there is large metal debris in chain box. Remove and replace engine assembly. Swap over necessary parts. Reflange transmission to engine and reassemble to test and recheck"

With all due respect, I beg to disagree. I feel that Porsche was very up front with me once they had determined the fault. The CPO warranty was honored, they provided me with a free loaner( Panamera 4) and I was otherwise treated well.

They showed me pics of the engine internals and explained what had happened. What more could I ask for?

As to the 2 year warranty bit, it does make sense to me since I paid nothing, not a farthing. From their point of view, the remaining warranty remains in force. If I had footed the bill, then a new 2 year warranty would have been given.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased...As to the break-in period, I'm adhering to the manual's recommendation.
