  1. Did your car receive a software update? Many people warn the dealers no to update as it tend to make the car feel "too smooth".
  2. Don't have the exact dimensions but it is larger than the flat bottom ones. Before you splurge for one try using the buttons as you might like them. I do plus I am loathe to lose the heated function.
  3. Can anyone provide instructions to replace one of my windshield washer nozzles? I can tell that the cover or cowl must be removed. How and what to be careful about? Thanks.
  4. Mijostyn, Tks. I'm soon to embark on a longish trip and want to bypass turnpikes and h'ways so as to take my time and enjoy the scenery, hence will be for the most part on less traveled roads and maybe no access to service although I carry AAA. I just want to enjoy this trip with no worries. Now that my 997 "only" uses 1 bar per 3k miles, I should be fine with a spare qt on board. I will however get a plug kit as well.
  5. Never mind. Picked up a 5.5x17 ET 24 spare from a GT3 owner. Now all I need are the jack and wheel wrench. BTW wheel fits fine in the frunk.
  6. Will a 996 spare tire kit (wheel, jack etc) fit a 997.2 in an emergency? Going on a long trip. and want peace of mind. Thanks.
  7. Maybe I'm all wrong but it seems to me that letting the car idle to reach correct oils temp for a reading is somewhat of a "fool's errand" as it typically takes a good 10 mins while driving for the needle to budge. Why not drive the car a bit and see if your oil temp moves. If the level is too low you'll get a warning anyway. There maybe is nothing wrong.
  8. Nothing is "happening". Normal. Your car consumed about 300ml of oil in 3,000. Very-very normal, and low. Thank you.
  9. Follow up: Down 1 bar at 24k miles, added less than 1/2 qt. So this time it's 3k miles to "down one bar" and the amount added is less. The car is a DD and often driven vigorously. I wonder what is happening. I'm planning on having an oil and filter change at 25k without resetting the service interval so that I'll get a service notice at 30K.
  10. My new (to me) 2009 C2S cab PDK with 21k miles has consumed one quart of oil in 2k miles. I noticed the rear bumper cover with a slightly oily black film which prompted me to check the oil level which was down about 3 bars. Added oil slowly and rechecked until a quart of Mobil 1 0/40 was poured in. I plan on going to the dealer ( car is CPO) and to avoid the usual " It's normal" or " they all do that" BS ( they don't all do that as my previous 05 C4S didn't require any added oil between changes in 3 years). I'd appreciate opinions as the possible causes so that I may be able to talk intelligently about the issue to the Service Mgr. Thanks
  11. Before anything else, simply check your tire wear. Could as simple as worn tire(s).
  12. This a.m, I received the claim forms since I have a 2005 C4S. No Ims or other problems so far @ 45k miles. At a glance, the claimant(s) are required to provide detailed info on the IMS repairs and proof(s) of everything.
  13. Like everything else, done with caution it should be OK. You can't over rev a Tip( as far as I know) and it will only down shift when it safely can. You might not like the abrupt jerk though when done at high RPM.
  14. Thanks, Loren. I knew you'd have the answer. Mine are solids.
  15. I am trying to replace a damaged and unrepairable rear wheel on a 2005 C4S. It seems to me that there are 2 types of turbo twist wheels: solid and hollow. The partnum on my wheel is 996 362 142 0. I only come up with the part number ending in 01, 02 or 03 on various web sites that offer the replacement new or used. Can anyone offer enlightment on this as I would rather not use a hollow wheel if mine are solid and vice versa. Thanks.
  16. No, I put it on just after a snow day and then take it off shortly thereafter. It is a 10 mins process. I had it on for a trip to SC, took it off after arriving and back on for the trip back. I haven't noticd any scratch as the lining is all felt like material. I contemplated the Xpel type but found the bra on 6speed marketplace for 75 bucks. No-brainer when compared to the Xpel price installed.
  17. Try this: pause for a millisecond in neutral br engaging the next gear, it works wonders.
  18. Drove my C4S all winter last year and driving it this year. Using Blizzaks on dedicated rims. The Pcar loves winter. Thought about 3M bra this year but got an OEM take on/off bra for 75 bucks. Hard to beat.
  19. Resolved the issue: Rear tires were shot after 13.5k miles...Replaced with new set of ContiSportContact2 N2 and symptoms cured. Car is tight as a drum and shake is gone.
