Steering wheel shakes at low/high speeds

I recently experienced this shaking of my steering wheel. Here is what I noticed when its really cold the steering wheel does not shake at all or if it does its very little. On the day this week that is was 50-55 degrees in nj, the steering wheel was noticably shaky. So now it could just be happening no matter what the temp outside is but.. Where do I look to see what is worn or broke? Is the control arms? Its not the wheels as the rims were just balanced and are true. So anyone please give me their ideas.

It is odd to have a steering shake associated with temperature. I have a theory that is the only thing I can think of that may have a causal relationship between cold and steering performance....And it may be totally wrong, but.....

The only thing I could think of would be rubber bushings in the front end....When it is very cold, the rubber will be very hard and stiff...At warmer temperatures, the rubber would become more pliable and more likely to shake??

Only thing I could think of.

Does the wheel shake all the time at all speeds or just when you run over imperfections of the roadway? how many miles on your car? could be ball joints, bushings or as simple as you tires holding a flat spot when its cold. what brand tires do you have? the less expensive tires have a tendency to take forever to warm up and get rid of the flat spot which will cause a shaking.

Its an alignment issue. I had the same deal a week or two ago and they fixed it and now its perfect. You will still notice little bumps and shakes in the road very easily due to how hard the suspension is in a sports car more so than you would notice in a regular car.

The dealer that did the alignment told me that cars like this go out of alignment very easily with pot holes and bumps as to not break any of the sensitive steering parts.

The initial post referred to this occurring when it is cold....Did the dealer explain how it was out of alignment when cold, but not when warm? Without loose front end parts or defective tires, there is nothing to shake??

Just a thought/? Well at least your problem seems to have been solved...Did they also balance your tires?

I have same issues. i jacked up car and can rock the tire from side to side. It moves about 1/8 inch on both sides. Really rough ride at all speeds on roads with any bumps or pot holes. Front end feels like it is going to fall off. Any ideas....possible bushings or controls arms....thanks
