Tiptronic won't shift out of 3rd

Recommended Posts

Greetings... I am asking this for a Boxster friend... 99 Boxster, 90,000 miles, tiptronic.

If driving with a light foot tranny runs thru the gears as normal.... put your foot into it and it upshifts normally to 3rd and then refuses to shift further.... tap the shifter to M and using the paddle buttons and the tranny shifts as normal. Tap the shifter back and the tranny downshifts as normal.

One other detail.... the car was put off the road and there was some rim, tire, radiator and suspension damage... all repaired.... prior to the offroad experience the tranny shifted normally (I am told)...

Any thoughts, input or experience is appreciated.... go to and Indy for diagnosis but I like to do my homework....

*Search* was not too successful for me...:)

Cheers...

I suspect that the tires are the right size ? As the tire sizes are not correct, a Tiptronic will react weird (final drive incorrectly against programmed shift points)

Well they did only replace 2 tires on the passenger side... Porsche said to be careful of affecting the PSM.... perhaps it is as simple as that?
