no check engine light with ignition on

Recommended Posts

2000-996 C2 manual .....Failed emissions first time when tripped cel because of secondary pump replaced and cleared cel, so went back for retest and it failed because NO cel with ignition key turned on! Funny thing I don't remember if it was ever on in that condition. Anyway checked bulb "Ok" removed battery cable for couple of minutes and still NO cel with ignition to on position. I have not checked with my durametric for codes for this problem, but anyone have any ideas on things to look for.

It will take less time to connect your Durametric tool to the system and note the codes than just put a message on the net, i would start with that first. Once you have the codes, we can continue.

With Durametric I get code 0650 -- 165 open circuit. Fuses check out good disconnected battery for full ten minutes and cycled ignition switch. I also disconnected an O2 sensor to throw a cell ... ran for couple of minutes and did not see CEL.

I assume that the BLK male connector on the cluster turns the CEL light on however what is the easiest way to check for an Open?

1. From blk male Connector going to cluster ... which "wire color" if known is easiest to check back to the computer to check continuity or voltage.

PS I did check this thread.
