Knocking Sound And Vibration under load

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

Im having a major issue with my boxster at the moment ( 1999 2.5L model )

When driving along im getting a Thud..Thud......Thud..Thud... noise from the rear of the car,

which is also shuddering through the car when it knocks, which gets pretty excessive either at speed or under load.

This noise speeds up with the engines rpm and is only present with the clutch Engaged, i can feel it shudder through my clutch pedal as im engaging the clutch in first gear also.

it feels like theres something majorly out of balance with the clutch/flywheel assembly or the gearbox itself.

Does anyone have any guidence or knowledge of an issue like this?

regards.

Nathan

Do you think it was wise to contiue driving it in that condition? Sound like either the clutch plate failed or possibly the dual mass flywheel seperated. whichever, don't drive it you will just make it twice as expensive as it has to be. Check your cv joints first. if you have a high milage car they do wear out and raise a lot of h*** when you drive if they are OK then pull the transmission and check you flywheel and clutch assy.
