Hi all,

I have a 99 C2 that buzzes very loudly on occasion. I pulled the plastic covers off of the battery compartment on a very hot day and found that the high pressure line was vibrating when the noise occured. I put the AC gauges on and discovered that the high side pressure was extremely high (>350). The AC seems to work perfectly otherwise.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is this a common problem on 996's?

High pressure refers in most cases to an obstruction in the system, dryer/filter, nozzle valve block in front of the evaporator, could be frozen water by humidity in the system as well.

Hi Dwiggy, did you solve the problem? I have a similar problem... It started just after recharging the AC system. The tech said he put a lot of freon into the system, so maybe the pressure is too high. The buzzing can start as soon as i turn on the AC, and it continues regardless of the temp setting. As soon as I turn off the AC by hitting the snowflake, the noise goes away. ... Is there another fan separate from the blower fan that might be on the evaporator? This is annoying. Help. Thx. pETER
