spark plug replacement - horrible discovery

I undertook a project this labour day weekend to replace the spark plugs on my 99 C2 which turned out very disappointing. Once I removed my rear wheels, I discovered the spark plug shields were missing and the spark plug coils were only held in place with one bottom screw. I bought the car used back in 07 and had the car inspected by a mechanic referred by the dealer. The mechanic did not mention the missing shields and screws in his report. Well, I'm glad the exposure of the coils to the elements did not damage the coils

I've replaced the plugs on the driver side and did not want to replace the passenger side until I obtain the screws and shields. Does anyone know the part number of the spark plug shields (both left and right)? I'll check Pelican and Suncoast for them.

Seems you're fortunate you decided to undertake this project. I checked the Porsche PET and the heat shields are P/N: 996 104 425 02 - same both sides. You'll probably need the bolts to secure the heat shields to the engine, they are P/N 900 378 163 09 - you'll need 4 (2 per side). The bolts for the spark plug coils are P/N: 900 067 089 01 in case you need them too. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll get the parts ASAP so that I can finish my spark plug replacement. I'll look at replacing my fuel filter next. Hopefully there won't be any surprises...
