I have not found much on this. I have 08 S with 56k, and they have done the fuel pump upgrade or whatever it was. The car sometimes does not start, the starter kicks out.

Well I tested the battery with our testers said it was weak. Put in a brand new battery it was GREAT for a few weeks and now it has NOT started a few times.

It turns over and sometimes the starter just can not start the car, on the first key turn.

Do these starters get weak? This is not a cheap guess to see if it is by replacing??

Any input VERY MUCH welcomed.

Thank You.

Also a proud new owner of a new BECK Speedster, will be in the garage in the morning, CANT WAIT!!!!

OH and this is my first post, here is our S, it has the sport exhaust and lots of goodies, ordered extra. We love it. Has what we want and what we dont!!!

Yes starters do get old and weak, but on an 2008 car that sounds pretty implausible, but not impossible.

My guess is there is something else going on, perhaps a charging issue with the alternator, wiring, or possibly even bad new battery.

BTW, nice car!!!!

It is a Beck speedster so custom built chassis. It has the Super 1600 VW motor in it. and VW drive train. Everything else on the car is made by beck.

Here are some more pics.

That Speedster is sweet..:clapping: Can you tell us more about it? Power train ect?

Any other odd electrical faults or things going on?

Starters do fail but it's not a common problem and when they start to fail they keep getting worse until they no longer operate.... not give problems and then work fine for weeks and start to act up again. Even though the battery is new I would retest it.

Could you be more descriptive as to what the vehicle is doing.

As mentioned by wvicary, more information would be more opportunities to help. The start motor is electronically protected by a timer, it is therefor normal that the start motor shut off after approx. 15 sec. if the engine fails to start.

this may sound very strange but my 08Cay S with 32K km on it didn't start several times and I was obviously furious about it, ... but on the end it was my fault ... I was just to quick with the key and too slow with pressing the brake pedal ... sounds like something unreal, but that' s what was going on ... now just got to make sure my brake pedal is pressed first, and than I turn the key, ... i think, if you're rushing and doing it at exactly same time it may be few milliseconds off and late with pressing the brake ... and the computer "the brain" gets confused ... that's my 2 cents ...

Did you resolve this issue? I am having pretty much the same issue. 2008 Turbo, fuel pump also replaced when in still had a warranty.

Turn key, car doesn't start, turn key and hold, car usually starts. I recently replaced the battery as well and it seemed to be better for a while. I seems somewhat heat dependent. If it is hotter outside it tends to act up more.

Thanks!
