I just bought a 996 hardtop to install on my 997 per the information provided in this forum. Excellent info!

I did notice though that my top only has 1 of those squishy round pads glued to the underside. I know you have to have these to keep the top from scratching up the finish where it mounts to the car. I have looked through the PET catalogue and can't find a part number for these pads. Can any of you parts experts help me with this? Or if you have a junker top sitting around, can I buy 1 or 2 pads from you?

Try looking for the pads on the soft top clam shell cover. I'm not sure but they appear very similar to the pads on the hard top and serve the same purpose so I'd give it a shot.

Great minds think alike! I have been pouring through these parts diagrams and cannot find anything specifc to the where they should be. But I did see the "Buffers" on the underside of the clamshell. I just walked in from the garage when I saw your post. The pads on the underside of the clamshell are the exact same thing that goes on the top. Mystery solved! If anyone cares they are 996 561 633 01 "Buffers". Thanks for all of the help everyone!
