Help: removed one engine mount now can't get new one in!

hi. I'm changing the two rear engine mounts. I supported the engine in the center and removed the bottom bolt of the driver's side rear mount. As I did that: a load pop and the driver's side of the engine dropped a bit. put the new mount in from the top but I can't seem to raise the engine up enough to get the stud to clear the carrier so I could put the bolt back on. If I try to jack up the drivers side of the engine, the whole car lifts up, not just the engine.

You are probably going to have to loosen both to allow the engine to slide into position.

1. Unbolt the passenger's side until the nut is near end of bolt so that the engine can move and level out some.

2. Or unbolt the two mounting bolts on the new drivers side mount and jack the engine back until it is level enough to slide the mount stud through.

thanks, I tried that, but it didn't help. i ended up having to make a special attachment that fits into the saddle of my hydraulic jack. It's basically a shaft that allows you to jack up the engine, at the carrier, near the bolt location.
